The study emphasized the critical importance of vigilance in safeguarding personal information online. Digital security involves measures to protect users’ personal information, digital identity, from online threats. According to the U.S. government watchdog agency, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), cyber threats are constantly evolving. New challenges to digital security appear daily. The following examples are the most common. These threats include malware, phishing, identity theft, and data breaches.

Harmful software designed to exploit programmable devices, service, or network often refers to malware. Similarly, phishing involves fraudulent attempts to obtain sensitive information by disguising oneself as a trustworthy entity through digital communication.

Cyber criminals continuously attempt to exploit security vulnerabilities in an attempt to create a new digital identity. Identity theft involves the deliberate attempt at fraudulently obtaining another’s identity to gain financial advantages or benefits. Hackers may also exploit particular vulnerabilities in databases to acquire personal information. Data breaches often focus on businesses or government entities. It relates to the unauthorized access of information to leak or obtain sensitive material for personal gain without consent.

Strategies for Enhancing Digital Security

Stopping digital threats involves a series of steps to ensure the safety and system integrity of vital information and privacy. These strategies for enhancing digital security include the following four steps:
